H.R.1781: Payment Commission Data Act of 2019
The Payment Commission Data Act is a bipartisan bill that would allow the Medicare Payment and Access Commission (MedPAC) and the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) to access drug pricing and rebate data. MedPAC and MACPAC are both non-partisan agencies established to provide independent policy analysis and recommendations to Congress on their respective programs.
This bill is identical to H.R. 1264, and the Senate version of this bill is S. 801.
- Giving MedPAC and MACPAC access to drug pricing information would allow them to provide improved policy recommendations to Congress regarding how to lower prescription drug prices.
- The National Assembly supports the Payment Commission Data Act because it improves MedPAC and MACPAC’s ability to provide policy solutions to rising prescription drug prices. Access to fair prescription drug prices is crucial to ensuring everyone can reach their full potential.
